T20I Cricket: The third Super Four match of Asia Cup 2025, featuring Pakistan vs Sri Lanka, is set for Tuesday, September 23. Both teams will face off in their second game of the Super Four stage at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Both Pakistan and Sri Lanka suffered defeats in their opening Super Four matches. Sri Lanka, captained by Charith Asalanka, lost to Bangladesh by four wickets. After being asked to bat first, the Lankans posted 168/7, thanks to a resilient 64* from Dasun Shanaka.
Bangladesh chased down the target in the final over, powered by a strong innings from opener Saif Hasan, who scored 61, and a crucial 58 from No.4 batter Towhid Hridoy, securing a thrilling win. Notably, Sri Lanka had remained unbeaten in the group stage, winning all three of their matches against Bangladesh, Hong Kong, and Afghanistan.

Pakistan, on the other hand, suffered a defeat against India in their Super Four opener. Batting first, the Salman Agha-led side posted 171/5, thanks to a brilliant 58-run innings from opener Sahibzada Farhan, who gave the team a strong start. However, the rest of the batting lineup couldn’t capitalize on his effort.
In response, Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill shared a 105-run partnership, guiding their team to a six-wicket victory. Earlier in the group stage, Pakistan had registered wins against Oman and the UAE but fell short against India. With four points, they secured second place in Group A, earning a spot in the Super Four round.
With the Asia Cup 2025 semifinals shaping up, both Sri Lanka and Pakistan must win their upcoming clash to boost their chances of reaching the final. The top two teams from the Super Four will face off in the tournament final next Sunday.
